Shomaila Maurer’s journey to stardom and success is a teachable one. As an outsider, an expat, she managed to make her mark in UAE and today is a recognized personality and the Founder and CEO of EmiratesFashionista.com.
She was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. Before moving to Dubai, she lived in Seoul, South Korea for 9 years where she learned the Korean language, finished her studies, and expertised in Korean fashion.
Dubai: A home away from home
Moving to the United Arab Emirates, a country that welcomes 89% expats was a dream come true. In her interview with Dubai Fashion Magazine, she said, “Living in Dubai has given me the freedom to express myself. I have had a chance to explore fashion and style from many countries without going anywhere else”.
Shomaila Maurer has been a proud resident of Dubai for over 8 years now. Dubai is a cosmopolitan city and to her, it feels like a “home away from home.” Her experience with the people from the United Arab Emirates is extraordinary. The locals are kind, down-to-earth, helpful, and welcoming. She loves Emirati culture and the value of togetherness. “I love learning about different cultures and every culture has a beautiful fashion style”, says Shomaila.

FASHION IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF AN INDIVIDUAL’S PERSONALITY AND HOLDS AN INTRINSIC VALUE. FOR SHOMAILA, IN EVERY OUTFIT SHE WEARS, SHE ADDS A LITTLE TOUCH WITH THE MIX OF CULTURES. THE AMALGAMATION OF VARIOUS CULTURAL INFLUENCES CAN BE BEAUTIFULLY OBSERVED IN EVERY ATTIRE SHE ADORNS.

I feel so proud when I wear Emirati outfits and learn more about the Emirati culture. My favorite time was when I visited SMCCU - Sheikh Mohammed Cultural Center and learned so much about the UAE and its people. There is so much more I would like to learn and share about this beautiful country with dedicated leaders.”
As a versatile fashionista, she inculcates both Western and Eastern, in her style. In this photo, she is wearing a bright yellow coat by an American Fashion Designer Brandi Victoria Stilista.
She has done campaigns with many brands and has worn statement designer dresses. At an event with Galeries Lafayette, she wore a splendid gown by Carolina Herrera and has also done campaigns with beauty brands like Nazih Cosmetics, Pantene, and many more.
Participating in big events like the showroom of BMW AGMC where over 300 guests attended and another successful event with Si Fashion Galerie in Dubai Fashion District have been exciting milestones for her. She gained more popularity in the UAE when she started hosting events inviting celebrities, VIPs, and Entrepreneurs and introducing brands with her media and magazine partners at Dubai's luxury venues.
At her recent event that took place at Mina A’Salam Madinat Jumeirah, Shomaila Maurer wore a gorgeous gown by the famous Emirati Fashion Designer Mona Al Mansouri from her curvy size collection.
“Entrepreneurial Drive”
Shomaila owes her entrepreneurial success to the accepting and empowering environment of the UAE. “I feel safe living in Dubai and there are many ways women in the UAE are supported”, says Shomaila.
She opened her company through DED - The Department of Economic Development. Every step of the way, the UAE Government has helped me and I am very thankful to the amazing leaders, says Shomaila.
Moreover, she has participated in the jury panel to support the students graduating from fashion schools such as Esmod Fashion School Dubai and has been awarded as a fashion industry expert by American University in the Emirates (AUE) Fashion Department.
